Day 3: Tuesday

Morning at Anh Linh, Afternoon Tour of HCMC

Tuesday began with high expectations with regards to the handling of the "little rebels" -- the afternoon elementary kids that tormented students yesterday to turn English class into recess.

In the morning, third and fourth grade classes were led by trip members while the fifth grade class had the opportunity to be the first to test the newly revamped computer lab. One teacher sponsor, Mr. Chris Strance, led a lively and animated third grade English class with several other teams helping test all desktops and laptops to ensure all are in working order.

Fifth grade computer class students first were assigned to a desktop before moving to the new laptops -- the computer class today was all about the differences between a desktop and laptop. Apart from a revised keyboard layout, trip members focused on the portability and ease of use of laptops over desktops. None of the kids have ever used a laptop before -- yet alone even seen a laptop -- and fortunately, today's computer lesson introduced to the Anh Linh kids a new piece of technology.

Ho Chi Minh City Tour by Cholontours

Attractions visited:
1. Reunification Palace (Independence Palace)
2. War Remnants Museum
3. Ben Thanh Market
Dinner: Batalis Restaurant (Nguyen Binh Khiem)

The afternoon tour lasted approximately 5 hours in total, visiting three of Ho Chi Minh City's most famous attractions. The trip members, however, found by consensus, Ben Thanh Market to be the best part of the tour. Bargains were struck, Dong was exchanged, and everyone came back with something that put a smile on their faces. For the trip officers, 15 Vietnamese hats were purchased for every member to serve as a lasting reminder of this year's service trip.
