Nine months of school has gone by, and as Outreach Vietnam begins to reflect upon the many achievements over the school year, we are without doubt amazingly proud of our work.
Many service organizations summarize their many achievements in a year through numbers. Using numbers is a wonderful tool to popularize the statistics of service work. In summary…
One individual, one club, one school, and one Ms. Thuy…
Two hundred dollars – the amount of money raised in our very first fundraiser
Three thousand dollars – the net surplus of money left over to sustain future generations of Outreach Vietnam’s work
Four days – the length of Outreach Vietnam’s first annual service trip to Anh Linh Free School
Five teams of three students, each developing their own lesson plans, fundraising plans, and materials to ensure nothing goes wrong on the service trip
Sixteen eager high schoolers, taking part on our first service trip
Seven – the most boxes of books and clothing donated at one time, weighing nearly 70 kilograms in total, to benefit the Anh Linh library and students
Eight – The total number of fundraisers throughout the year to raise a total of over $3000
Nine – The most number of hours spent in one day volunteering at Anh Linh
Ten gigabytes worth of pictures and videos over three Anh Linh trips to treasure memories that will last forever
And many more to come…
We at Bridges to Learning can never thank the students of Singapore American School enough for your enthusiastic support of Anh Linh School in Vietnam. You have provided leadership, creativity, and the determination to make positive changes. As a result you have inspired and influenced hundreds of children living is dire poverty. You have become models and friends. We thank you all for your amazing global awareness and support. With kindest regard, Peg Thomas E.D. Bridges to Learning
ReplyDeleteAwesome. A good summary of OV's first year using numbers Michael. I feel proud to be a part of this club.
