A fundraising trick? Oh yes, anyone would know that a bake sale is the oldest trick on the house for any service club to raise money. But, how did our club members fare last Thursday?
Last Thursday, several members brought in a variety of baked items for our first bake sale. From rice-krispies to brownies, to gigantic oatmeal cookies (popular among the health-conscious staff) and vanilla-frosted cupcakes, Outreach Vietnam raised a total of $147.10.
Three tricks we've learned:
1. Bake sale items that appeal directly to the senses make money -- lots of money (and certainly nearly three times the amount we earned from pizza the past week!)
2. Price everything cheap -- $0.50 for cookies and $1.00 for cupcakes worked just fine for us despite a few oatmeal cookie leftovers, which brings up the next point...
3. Never mind the health-conscious teachers and staff -- look at it from a business perspective. What makes money? The unhealthy stuff, of course.
And if you are ever wondering what we are going to do with the money earned from three fundraisers, hear this: a mega pizza & cold drinks fundraiser in the coming weeks (and free pizza for members who volunteer).
