Day 2

This morning, I awoke to a rather unfamiliar scene for December -- a cloud-filled overcast sky. Not common at all for the December dry season, I quickly discovered Ho Chi Minh City was in for a bit of rain in the evening and tomorrow as the outskirts of Typhoon Washi/Sendong brush past southern Vietnam.

The darkened did little to dampen my mood today, for today would be the first English class that I would hold for the week. When I arrived, Thuy was nowhere to be seen. I quickly settled down and started my morning English class. Today's chosen "theme" was Christmas. In an hour and a half, we covered everything from gifts to tinsel. And with their newly discovered keyboard, the kids were able to sing Christmas carols to the accompaniment of the keyboard. (One goal for the future is to introduce music lessons for everyone)

Lunch

Doing dishes "assembly line" style

Rice paper snack

After lunch, I proceeded to teach the afternoon computer class. The lesson today was a continuation of yesterday's introduction to Blogger. Today, the class learned how to insert pictures and comment on each others' posts. (See the result at anhlinhfreeschool.blogspot.com!)

Afternoon computer class -- Blogger continued
Tomorrow, the class will learn how to embed videos onto Blogger. Having internet in the lab was definitely a great idea!
