Day 3

The morning English class was far more "lively" today than yesterday. The theme of the day was health, and students learned the basics of seeing a doctor. After a few role plays and conversations, everyone left the class feeling a lot better.

During lunch break, I happened to stumble upon seven XO laptop computers -- the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project laptops that are being distributed to developing countries around the world. Although I have heard much about the project, this was the first time I actually used one.

The only problem, however, was that the Vietnamese language pack that apparently came with the laptop was not installed. I emailed OLPC support for help, and should expect a reply soon. Otherwise, without the Vietnamese language support for the laptops, little can be done with the laptop in the classroom.

In the afternoon, I had a good conversation with Thuy about the service trip next March. Tomorrow, both of us will visit a boys home in District 1 to explore further service opportunities for Outreach Vietnam.

The afternoon computer class continued to work on the new Anh Linh Free School blog. Students today learned how to embed videos onto the blog for the first time ever, using a Christmas video created by our friends at Bridges to Learning.
