This week has been hectic for the officers, flying here and there to organize all that was needed for the club. With Pumpkin Patch out of the way, Outreach Vietnam focused its energy on two events: Food Fest and Pizza & Drinks Fundraiser.
Simply said, the Pizza & Drinks fundraiser was a success...and a disaster. The instant pizzas went on sale, the flock of hungry high school kids came rushing to the small sales spot outside the cafeteria, slices disappearing within seconds and some taking away a whole box. All was good, until we ran out of pizza. The problem was, we ordered pizza from two different restaurants - Canadian Pizza and Sarpino's, and Sarpino's did not deliver on time. By the time the Sarpino's delivery men came, lunch was nearing its end, which also meant the end of our customers. Surprisingly, we sold a bit over half the Sarpino's.
All this effort and the result? An overall loss in profit due to late delivery (not our fault).
On a positive note, the mother of one of our Vietnamese members, Juliana, came to school to teach our club how to make Vietnamese Spring Rolls. Why? Because this healthy snack is our special product for Food Fest. Juliana's mother kindly taught us all the ingredients and the know-how of making the spring rolls, and even offered to come out to Food Fest should we need any help. So a big thank you to Juliana and her mother!
Tomorrow is Food Fest. We wish our club all the best in selling Spring Rolls, but more importantly, we hope that everyone will have a delicious time :)
